Twerking hits America like a wrecking ball
It seems the country is divided on a hot topic these days. It isn’t anything to do with health care or the government shut down. No, it is much more important than that.
People either love or hate this dance craze made popular by Miley Cyrus. She’s been seen twerking in a unicorn onsie, on Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards, and in almost all of her recent music videos.
However, when translated into the real world, twerking hasn’t worked out as well as it has for Cyrus.
Recently, a Florida woman was arrested for twerking in front of school bus full of children. She’s been accused of “dancing in a vulgar manner” in front of children. Although their records were later expunged, over 30 students in San Diego were suspended for creating a video featuring twerking.
And who can forget the “Epic twerking fail” video that made rounds earlier this year. Come to find out, this video of a girl falling and catching fire was a massive prank that pulled to wool not only over the eyes of the public but the media as well.
While this video may have been fake, there have been reports of people getting hurt while trying to up their twerking game.
Cyrus might have been joking in her Saturday Night Live monologue when she said “I used to think twerking was cool, but now that white people are doing it it’s kind of lame,” but I hope she really is done with twerking.
I think twerking is as dumb as the Macarena. Hopefully it will be as distant a memory as the Macarena now is. I’m definitely over this fad, and Cyrus for that matter.
