College of Democrats Invite State Rep. Scott Drury to second Town Hall Meeting

State Representative, Scott Drury, visited the College of Democrats for a town hall to talk about his candidacy for Attorney General.

The College of Democrats on the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) campus looks to educate students and community members about the Democratic Party, as well as assist in local elections on the local, state, and national level.

The club also introduces students to the democratic platform by inviting state representatives and senators to meetings, including State Senator, Andy Manar, and Senator, Daniel Biss, who is currently running for governor. These opportunities also allow interested students to network and consider a career in politics in the future.

Drury attended The College of Democrats’ Sept. 26 meeting to talk about his campaign platform for Attorney General. Drury was formerly running for governor, but recently dropped out of the race after current Attorney General, Lisa Madagan, dropped the bombshell announcement that she would not be running for reelection.

Brandon Walker, Senior and Communication Major, attended the meeting and said he could see that Drury truly stands for what he believes in.

“I can tell he’s passionate about this position he is trying to run for,” he said. “He did come to a University to inform us more on what is going on. He’s working for the everyday man.”

You can find flyers around campus with information about future events. If you’d like to become a member of The College of Democrats, visit their UIS Connection page, or  Facebook page.

With an unplanned Synchronization, Vice President Molly Looby, Junior and Political Science, Communication major, and Secretary, Rosie Dawoud, Sophmore, and Legal Studies major said, “Join College of Dems!”
