University of Illinois Springfield Clashes to Draw with Purdue Northwest

The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) men’s soccer team clashed to a 1-1 draw with Purdue Northwest University on Saturday at Hammond, Ind.

Purdue Northwest (2-1-1) took a 1-0 lead when Enrique Serna capitalized off a pass from Jaime Garcia. Serna found the back of the net from outside of the box on the left side 14 minutes into the match.

The Prairie Stars (1-2-1) evened the score during the 61st minute of the match as Rhys Wallace delivered an equalizer off a free kick.

   Mario Falsone led the Prairie Stars with four shots and provided one shot on goal. Wallace turned in three shots and scored on his only shot on frame. Javier Milla also provided three shots.

   Mario Gonzalez, Alex Morais and Alexander Gonzalez each put their only shot on frame. Edward Rose and Fernando Sanz de Galdeano contributed a shot apiece.

Serna and Isaiah Nieves both produced four shots for the Pride. Garcia registered three shots and Matin Lamas recorded two shots. Grant Ugarte and Daniel Freedman each added shots.

UIS’s Pijus Petkevicius rejected six of the seven shots he faced in 110 minutes.

Bradley Brack served as the Purdue Northwest goalkeeper for 110 minutes and corralled four of the five shots he faced.

   The Prairie Stars outshot the Pride by an 18-to-15 margin while Purdue Northwest held a 7-to-5 advantage over UIS in shots on goal.
