“Bugonia” with Emma Stone is a brilliant film about conspiracy
If you don’t like violence, leave this film alone, even if you get lost “bugonia” by Yorgos Lanthimos just for some strong scene, it would be a real shame. Intelligent, very powerful, outside the box as only Lanthimos knows how to be, “bugonia”, in official competition in Venice 82 and remake of the South Korean film “Jigureul Jikyeora!”, It is a work that enters, insinuates itself under the signs and has a great future in front of it.
Emma Stone returns to collaborate with her “soul mate” Yorgos Lanthimos after “Poor creatures!”, Venice winner80 and “Kinds of Kindness” and demonstrates, once again, all its potential for interpreter. He is not afraid to get his hands dirty, to shave his hair to enter the part, to get bare emotionally and expose himself without hesitation giving himself completely to the character he plays but, above all, to the public.
A brilliant satire on conspiracy and on the limits of human beings
Telling the story of two men obsessed with conspiracies who kidnap a woman at the head of a company believing it is an alien willing to destroy humanity, “Bognia” becomes a wonderful, but at the same time chitiguing, satire on contemporary society, on the danger of the manias of conspiracy, on the obsessions of human beings, their limits and how their own hand is destroying, day after day, the world.
With dialogues to say the least bright, a very particular plot that paste to the screen – and here it is understood that at the base of the story there is a sweat idea – and extraordinary actors such as Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bed) who supports Stonethis new film by Yorgos Lanthimos is intended for great things but, above all, to leave a mark in the consciousness of those who will look at it.
It belongs to the dystopian/science fiction genre but this film, watching it up close, is much more real than any openly realistic film and, precisely for this reason, it is stronger and puts even more chills (especially in its ending that literally leaves speechless).
Looking at “bugonia” means embarking on a very deep intellectual journey, it means looking at the mirror, taking an examination of consciousness and leaving the room more aware of themselves and the reality from which you are surrounded.
Let yourself be surprised by the genius of Lanthimos, of brave and “crazy” directors like him there are few, unfortunately.
