How many times have we heard about the intervention of cataract without really knowing what it is? Yet it is the most performed surgical operation in the world. In our latest video, thanks to 3D animations unpublished, we enter the operating room and we show you step by step everything that happens.
Let’s start from the basics: cataracts are the clouding of the crystalline lens, the natural and transparent lens that is inside the eye and that allows us to focus. As we age this lens may leak transparency, and so the colors go out, the vision becomes blurred and driving at night becomes more difficult. The solution? Replace the cloudy lens with one artificial lens tailor-made.
To tell you how it really works, we followed Raffaella, a Vista Vision patient, in every phase of her surgery. Here’s what we show you in the video:
- all of them exams before surgery: weeks before, the pupil, tear film, size of the bulb and curvature of the cornea are measured. We explain to you why all this data is used to calculate down to the millimeter the power of the lens to be implanted.
- the operation explained in 3D: we take you to the operating room and, with dedicated animations, we reconstruct the four key moments of the operation, from femtosecond laser until the new lens is positioned.
- There technology that changes everything: you will discover the role of phacoemulsifier ultrasound, augmented reality that guides the surgeon and premium lenses, capable of correcting defects such as myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia and presbyopia.
